How Erin Lilies Evolved

I began making my own jewelry a few years ago. It stems from my love of all things shiny. My husband would frequently lose track of me in a store as a result. So instead of searching through the pretty, shiny items, I decided to start making them. I found it a little challenging at first, but soon got the hang of it. I made earrings, bracelets and the like, giving them as gifts.

This was all good, but didn't seem to be quite enough. Something was missing. I felt like I really needed to share what I've been making with more than just my friends and family. That brought me around to Erin Lilies. I thought that others would enjoy my designs. The name Erin Lilies just popped out to me. How, you ask? The answer is simple. My daughter's name is Erin Lily. She is, by far, my most beautiful creation.

I am primarily a self-taught artist. I learn through a variety of methods (reading books, internet tutorials, etc.), but I think the best way I learn is through trial and error. It really helps me get a feel for what works and what doesn't. I also try-on all my jewelry (except for the earrings). I want to make sure that each piece I create will lay properly and be comfortable. I would rather find out if a design will work or not on me. I pride myself on my craftsmanship.

Most of the inspiration for my pieces comes from what I see in stores, jewelry I've seen in books, magazines, etc. I'll find interesting designs in nature that are begging to become a beautiful handcrafted piece of jewelry. Sometimes it's just what happens to come to me, especially when I'm trying to fall asleep. Everything I make comes with my own unique twist. We all view the world differently. This is mine.
